OUTER RHYMES

AT THE INTERSECTION OF ART, CRAFT, AND DESIGN, CONCRETE POETICS COLLECTION OF HAND-CAST CEMENT SCULPTURAL FURNITURE AND ACCESSORIES STREAMLINES VISUALLY INTRIGUING AND DYNAMIC FORMS JUXTAPOSING THE DENSITY OF THE MATERIAL.

Every piece is designed and produced in the Concrete Poetics Brooklyn studio, emerging through a process of experimentation, intuition, and a deep engagement with material. The result: optically engaging forms that are inherently functional, modular, and adaptable to indoor and outdoor spaces. These works for sitting, setting, and containing suggest new ways of living with objects that are as sculptural as they are usable.

RAW, BRUTAL, VISCERAL, AND STRIKING OPTICAL QUALITIES ARE EMBEDDED IN THE ENSEMBLE OF MODULAR CANDLE HOLDERS, BOWLS, VESSELS, SIDE TABLES, AND STOOLS, ALLUDING TO CEREMONIES, RITUALS, AND CELEBRATIONS.

PARADIGM: FORM AND RESTRAINT

A critical concept in Fernández's work is the interplay between negative space, weight, constraint, and expressiveness. The decision to work with limited mechanical intervention—to design directly into the molds with modest tools and materials—reframes what it means to be a maker in a world of hyper-automation and abundance. His practice constructs a new vernacular of design rooted in tactile immediacy and thoughtful restraint.
