CONCRETE POETICS: OUTER RHYMES
SCULPTURAL WORKS ROOTED IN PROCESS, MATERIALITY, AND EXPERIMENTATION
Concrete Poetics creates handcrafted, made-to-order sculptural vessels, furniture, and accessories that convey a Wabi-Sabi sensibility—the result of the alchemy between stimulating forms, the raw vernacular of the material, and the physicality of a process using off-the-wall, self-devised techniques. Inspired by the experimentation, and informed by nature and sound, each design is meticulously articulated in our Brooklyn studio.
By exploring the intrinsic functionality of form, inherently modular objects arise for sitting, setting, and containing— built for both indoor and outdoor spaces. Drawing from primal structures and by urban and industrial surroundings, every piece embraces imperfection, making every object truly unique.
THE INTERPLAY OF FORM, MATERIAL, AND PERFORMANCE
Concrete Poetics moves beyond the mechanized and toward a tactile, interactive approach to making—an architecture of immediacy. Each object is built from the inside out, grounded in a philosophy that values the unexpected virtues of the artisanal and the off-beat: raw industrial materials, unorthodox hand-hewn mold-making and casting techniques, and a refusal to treat perfection as the goal. Instead, this restraint becomes a mode of expression, where serendipity and virtuosity converge at the core of the aesthetic.
CONCRETE PARALLAX
What begins as repetition and layering gives way to a kind of visual tension—patterns that surface, slip, and re-form with every shift in perspective. This is the essence of concrete parallax: forms that recalibrate themselves as they are approached. Much like landforms marked by erosion, each form bears the traces of the process that shaped it
PRIMORDIAL TECTONICS
Concrete Poetics pulls inspiration from tectonics and terrain: the layered strata of Death Valley, the surreal verticality of Joshua Tree’s rock formations, and the pale stillness of unfinished sites. These references reside within the sculptural forms. They are the hidden coordinates through which intuition finds its way.
THE MECHANICS OF PERCEPTION
Each piece is inherently modular—built to participate in larger compositions. They anchor space and respond to their surroundings, creating micro-landscapes and sculptural dialogues. A stool can become a table leg. A vessel can become a fountain. Every element contains latent possibility.
Concrete Poetics brings an imagistic quality into physical space. Off-kilter yet deliberate, each handmade piece carries a subtle semiotic charge. The work is an inquiry into how objects inhabit and shape their environments—visually and emotionally. Whether placed indoors or outdoors, solitary or in dialogue, these pieces allude to rituals, gatherings, and quiet ceremonies. They are catalysts for intimate reflection.
